The App Awards Prize List

Launched during the fourth annual conference of ‘Le Mobile 2.0′, the international competition for multi-platform mobile applications ‘The App Awards’ took place on the 9 and 10 March 2010 at the City of Science and Industry in Paris. During the event, various professional people from the mobile industry, analysts, journalists and many visitors were able to discover, test and vote for their favourite mobile applications. To continue, the jury, composed of representatives from various major players in the mobile sector – Streamezzo, Orange and Nokia – and expert journalists in this field – from BusinessMobile.fr, Ordinateur Individuel, Le Journal des Télécoms et Services Mobiles – then together thoroughly examined and evaluated the 64 competition entries.

In order to complete their task, the 7 jury members: Julien Amouroux, Streamezzo – Jean-Luc Ottensen, Orange – Cédric Thomas, OVI by Nokia – Olivier Chicheportiche, BusinessMobile.fr – Nicolas Guyot, l’Ordinateur Individuel – Ariel Gomez, Le Journal des Télécoms and Christophe Romei, Services Mobiles.fr installed and tested all 64 competition entries.

No less than 12 countries were represented in applications submitted, the mobile environments were distributed as follows: iPhone (49%), multi-platforms (14%), Android (14%), Windows Mobile (10%), Nokia OVI (7%) and BlackBerry (6%). The criteria used for valuating the entries were: utility, ergonomics, functions, multi-platform capability, economic model and marketing potential.

15 finalists selected and introduced during Mobile 2.0.
The 15 finalists of the competition the ‘App Awards’ had the opportunity to present their applications to the public audience gathered in the large amphitheatre of the City of Science and Industry. They were able to talk with various important representatives from the mobile industry who were there for the conference ‘Le Mobile 2.0’. Technological partnerships, meetings with potential investors and also marketing support from operators were among the subjects discussed.

The 6 winners of the ‘App Awards’ competition shared nearly 50,000 Euros worth of prizes composed of Streamezzo software licenses, sales placements in the Orange App Shop and Nokia OVI Store applications boutiques, equipment (Nokia and Sony-Ericsson smartphones) and technological and marketing support.
